I read this one a long while ago, and like Sandy, I had a harder time with the more modern parts of the story. I remember intensely disliking the husband and thinking that she was too good for him. The historical sections were amazing though, and so very sad. I need to see the movie at some point, to see how the translation of book to movie impacts me. Great review today, Swapna!

I absolutely fell in love with Sarah, and my heart was just ripped apart over that plot thread. But I didn't really like Julia. The story lost steam for me every time it switched to her. I would love to see the movie because the actress that plays Julia is phenomenal, and she might get me past my bias! I'm glad you finally got to read this one and that you enjoyed it.
