Moonlighting for Murder

Moonlighting for Murder is a theme week hosted by Jen Forbus of Jen’s Book Thoughts.  This year’s theme is amateur detectives; my pick is Stacey Curtis, a waitress and bartender from the book Double Black by Wendy Clinch.  My review of Double Black also posted today.

Stacey is a ski bum by day and a waitress by night, but what she enjoys most about her job is bartending.  It gives her the chance to chat, meet new people, catch up with old friends, and keep an eye on what’s going on in town.  In honor of Stacey and the Moonlighting for Murder week, I wanted to share a cocktail recipe with you.

This recipe is from Sandra Lee and can be found at The Food Network’s website

Margarita Martini

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • Salt, for the glass (optional)
  • Fresh mint, for garnish

Directions

Combine the tequila, lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. (To make a batch of simple syrup, simmer equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves, then cool.) Shake well, then strain into a chilled martini glass; salt the rim, if desired. Garnish with mint.

Makes 1 serving
