Wow, what an episode! I didn't have time to watch it last night, so I made a point to watch it as soon as I woke up this morning. I have to say, a brand new LOST episode is a great way to start the day!
There's a lot to discuss with tonight's episode, but I want to start with Daniel Faraday, or rather the lack of Daniel Faraday. This is something I've been meaning to bring up over the last few episodes, but I keep forgetting. Maybe I need to start taking notes during the episodes! Anyways, because of the season opener, we know he's in the Orchid station at some point, but where is he right now? Insane? Working merrily somewhere, and we just haven't seen him yet? Catatonic?
I'm not sure I like the way Sawyer handled the Sayid situation. I know he was trying to protect himself, but didn't he work his way up in the Dharma ranks in order to protect his friends if they ever came back? I know he had given up on them coming back, but still. In the end, he did the right thing by trying to let Sayid go, but I hate that it was "our way or the highway." Then again, I'm being critical of Sawyer, but what else could he really do?
Was Jin really going to tell on Sayid at the end of the episode? I don't think so, but apparently Sayid did.
Did you think the family who hired the woman who arrested Sayid was tipped off by Ben? I'm pretty sure that's the case.
Now let's get to the real question on everyone's mind: OMG Sayid shot a kid!!!!!!!!! At least he appeared to be broken up about it, I think he really saw himself in young Benjamin and didn't want Ben growing up to be the killer he becomes. But still, he shot a kid!!!!!!
Is young Ben really dead or just wounded? If he's just wounded then Sayid hasn't changed the future because he could recover. But what if he dies? Will older Ben on the present day Island disappear because he was killed as a child? If this is all moving towards our LOST-ies trying to stop the Dharma purge, as I think it is, Sayid just took a huge first step.
And on a side note, I don't know why Kate was so surprised that Sawyer took up with someone after she left. I mean, she's been gone three years and was engaged to Jack! Did she really expect Sawyer to just pine after her on the Island? I mean really!!
Quote of the night:
Sawyer: How're you doin'?
Sayid: A 12 year old Ben Linus brought me a chicken salad sandwich. How do you think I'm doing?
I can't wait to see what happens next week – is Ben dead? And are Jack, Kate and Hurley suspected of setting him loose?

Hi there! I love to read other LOSTaholics theories and thoughts.
I jotted down a little of what is going on in my spinning head after last night's episode. Feel free to pop over and take a peek!
Peace~

Do I sound like a cold-hearted bitch when I admit that I actually shouted with glee when Sayid pulled the trigger on that awful little creep Ben? Yes, I know, shooting a kid isn't a nice thing to do, but honestly, the only thought that went through my head in that second was "I hope the little fucker is really dead." And when Sayid went into his direction I hoped he would shoot him in the head a couple times, just to make really sure. A stake to the heart wouldn't have gone amiss either. :-)
Funny thing is, as twisted as that sounds, I do actually like Ben somehow. an't wait for next week. As usual.
Well...he's not dead. Otherwise he wouldn't be around now. But I'm sure that meeting with Sayid messed with his head pretty badly. And it makes sense that he enjoyed playing with Sayid all this time and the rest of the gang for that matter.
I thought maybe Sayid knocked Jin out so he could get his gun, not necessarily out of fear that he would tell. Even though Sayid thinks his purpose there is to get rid of Ben, I wondered if he would really do it because it seems like he felt a little sorry for him when he got his face smashed up against the cell bars. I love that quote!
Jack, Kate and Hurley are prob suspected. Good thought. Jack will try to be the savior and tell the truth getting everyone else into trouble. unless Sawyer befriends a mending Ben and doesn't get gassed in the future.
I am very eager to learn about where Faraday is.
I think that it's funny that Sayid shot Ben as a child, but when Sayid first meets adult Ben, he doesn't know this. Adult Ben uses and abuses Sayid to the point that he actually goes back and indeed shoots Ben as a child. WEIRD!!!!!!!
totally agree about Kate. I think everyone is getting very tired of the love square between Kate, Sawyer, Juliet and Jack. I have no idea why the writers keep insisted we have to put up with that drivel every week. It seems that everyone realizes this but Kate.
Sawyer asks Kate a valid question - why DID she come back? I mean, obviously she hinted that she came back because he was there, but beyond that, what are they all thinking happens next? Do they want to get off the island? Do they want to go forward in time to the "present" and then get off the island? I mean, everything they are doing right now is really disaster control (except Sayid), but what is their goal?
In any case, as they are doing disaster control it's obvious that they are also going to be a part of the island's history, even if they aren't able to change it.
I've been wondering what happened to Daniel Faraday, too.
That creepy guy Oldham from last weeks LOST episode was Larry Sanderson, who played Larry from Larry, Daryl & Daryl on Newhart.
