Tuesday Thingers

Today's question: Work multiples. Do you own multiple copies of any books? Which ones? Why? Can you share your list?

The only book I own multiple copies of is The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone (a favorite of mine). One is a trade paperback and one is an old hardcover first edition that used to belong to my husband's grandmother! I've thought about buying a second copy of The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Salman Rushdie because I really don't like the dust jacket on the hardcover...but then I got the book autographed. Maybe I'll get a second copy just to keep the hardcover pristine! (...or maybe not - I have enough books on my TBR list without buying multiple copies of books I own!)

What about you?

I wish I owned an older edition with memories like that! I've got The Agony and the Ecstasy on my TBR pile. I keep meaning to read it, I've got it here with me in England, but its length puts me off.

I haven't read either of those two books. Like you, I occasionally want to keep an autographed copy pristine.

Swapna, how cool that you own a book that used to belong to your husband's grandmother! We have several dictionaries, but my favorite belonged to MY husband's grandmother. It's the one I always use.

It's always nice to own a book with a provenance. I have several, and the memories of the book always get wrapped up with my memories of the person who once owned it.
