Sunday Salon

Well, we managed to make it back home from North Carolina! It took much longer than it should have, but I'm glad that I have the chance to do my Sunday Salon post today. Otherwise it would just have thrown off the whole week!

I'm really getting into the depths of final exams now. Luckily, only one is an actual exam - the other two are papers, which are much easier for me. Unfortunately, they are very long papers! But I started researching for the first of them last week, and my goal is to get it written this week. My hope is that I've started early enough to where I will still be able to have a few hours a day to read and enjoy myself, rather than working every hour I'm awake!

I'm very excited about Friday - that's the day my reading chair comes! Our condo doesn't get much natural light and this is one of those places that has no overhead lights - only lamps. So reading light has become more and more of a problem, to the point where I spend half the day in bed because the best light is in the bedroom. As much as I enjoy that, a few weeks ago, my husband and I went and picked out a leather chair and ottoman to put in the guest bedroom that will serve as my reading chair. I'm really excited about it and will post pictures when it is delivered. Also on Friday, I'm participating in a blog tour for Jane Porter's Flirting With Forty, so make sure to check that out!

In other exciting news, my husband and I are seeing Thomas Friedman (author of The World is Flat and Hot, Flat, and Crowded) speak on Tuesday. I'll post a summary/pictures on Wednesday!

Tomorrow, I'll (finally) announce my next book giveaway, so make sure you check back!

Now, onto the stats!

Books I've read this week:

The Memory of Water - Karen White [review]

Flirting With Forty - Jane Porter [review to be posted on Dec. 5]

The King's Daughter - Sandra Worth [review to be posted on Dec. 2]

Shelter Me - Juliette Fay [review to be posted]

Girl Most Likely To - Poonam Sharma [review to be posted]

Other reviews posted this week:

Tethered - Amy Mackinnon [review]

The Pre-Nup - Beth Kendrick [review]

Faro's Daughter - Georgette Heyer [review]

Can't wait to see your chair! I read in my bed too because there is no room for a chair in my room and people are roaming around everywhere else making noise! I usually fall asleep like that though, so thank goodness for my bus rides!

How do you read so many books in one week? Amazing.

I try to do the same with papers; if I write some each day, then usually I have time to relax afterwards, rather than having classes and going home just to do a ton more work.

I'm impressed that you can still read so many books with the work - my reading has certainly fallen off.

Glad you're home safe and sound. Our son went back to school yesterday - a trip that normally takes 4 hours took 6 because of traffic and weather.

Glad you had a nice trip. And yeah on the new chair! I'd love to have a designated reading area. I tend to end up in bed for reading and some working and it's not conducive to being social. LOL Maybe in my new house...

Good luck with your final papers and test!
