Sunday Salon

Well, this week saw the end of my midterms, which was a really nice feeling. Now I have a couple of weeks off before I have to start researching for my final papers! I also can't believe how quickly time is flying. I didn't even realize that Halloween was next week until I turned on the TV last night and the only thing I could find were horror movies. Before we know it, it'll be Thanksgiving, and then Christmas (my FAVORITE!)

This week, I posted about mixing reading with alcohol and my library book sale finds. I also decided to join the 2009 Pub challenge and started a discussion on book rating systems.

Don't forget, my giveaway for Testimony by Anita Shreve [review] ends on October 29. Comment on this post about the question presented to enter.

And without further ado, here are my stats for the week:

Books I've read:

The Heretic Queen - Michelle Moran [review]

Somebody Else's Daughter - Elizabeth Brundage [review to be posted on 11/5]

Scot on the Rocks - Brenda Janowitz [review to be posted on Monday]

The Opposite of Love - Julie Buxbaum [review]

My Best Friend's Girl - Dorothy Koomson [review to be posted]

Knitting Under the Influence - Claire LaZebnik [review to be posted]

The Reluctant Widow - Georgette Heyer [review to be posted Thursday]

Other reviews I've posted:

The Fortune Quilt - Lani Diane Rich [review]

Twenty Fragments of a Ravenous Youth - Xiaolu Guo [review]

Thank You For All Things - Sandra Kring [review]

Testimony - Anita Shreve [review]

The Safety of Secrets - DeLaune Michel [review]

That's a book a day! I don't know how you read so fast.

It sounds like you and your hubby are having a day that's a lot like ours....we were out of bed from 9 to noon, then we got back in (him to watch football, me to read) and have decided to stay there. It's quite nice.

Again, I am amazed at how quickly you read ! It's especially impressive that you are in graduate school at the same time.

I'm envious too, no chance I'll be reading that much! At least there aren't any midterms when it comes to my degree. I'm assessed based on three essays, three exams, and a dissertation (70% of my overall mark). While that puts a lot of pressure into a little bit of examination, I escape the mid-semester crush of five midterms at once!

I've read everything Shreve has written so far, so I'm not sure why I haven't run out to buy her new book yet.

It amazes me how much you read during the week. I'm happy if I can sneak in at least 30 minutes each day to read. Reading two books each week is good (I remember, not so long ago, that I could read 4-5 books a week. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened in awhile... well, the last time it did, I was sick the entire week!)

If only I could read that much....

I just tagged you for a meme: http://aleapopculture.blogspot.com/2008/10/7-random-things-meme.html

Feel free to pass on it if you want :D

Wow - I can't believe how much you read this week! I'm going to check out your review of The Opposite of Love. I read it this summer on vacation.

Wow, you posted some great reviews this week! A lot of the books in your library overlap with mine, I always like to see what you have going on!
