Here's a gem I just stumbled across: the Washington, DC Book Examiner has come out with The Ultimate Guide to Pairing Alcohol and Literature. My favorite recommendation? White wine goes with "any frothy, pink-jacketed chick lit book." The main reason I find that amusing is that I often enjoy a glass of white wine at night while I'm reading my lighter chick lit fare. The perfect pairing!
(The funny thing is that I didn't even used to like wine. Then I realized I was drinking crappy wine. I still don't like the heavy reds, but I enjoy the occasional white or lighter red).

That article is hilarious! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I cannot believe I forgot the Vodka when I attempted to read Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamazov! O boy!
You know I feel the same way about red wine. But I did have this one red wine from Portugal that was amazing. It was deep red but it was surprisingly sweet and fruity.
That's too cute! Unfortunately I haven't developed a taste for most alcohol or coffee for that matter. I need soda and juice pairings!
And I thought beer only went with pizza!
Thanks for sharing that great article. I definitely enjoy a drink with my books... or with anything, really.
I love to have a glass of white wine when I'm relaxing with a book.
Hehe. I love your comment about drinking crappy wine. In my early twenties I drank white zinfandel. And wondered why I didn't like wine :)
Now I like reds, the more full-bodied the better. I can't stand a 'sweet' wine. Ugghhh. Wine + reading = heaven :)
I think it would take more than vodka for me to finish a book by Dostoevsky.
Great article!
