Sex and the City: The Movie

Last night, I watched the Sex and the City movie that I rented from Netflix. I have really mixed feelings about the show. I have seen every episode, but I didn't really enjoy a lot of it (however, I watched it with my roommates as a bonding thing, since they always complained I was by myself...reading a book). I thought there was way too much focus on trivialities and that the women were rather flighty. Towards the middle and end of the show, I felt like there was a good amount of character growth, which is why I kept watching.

That being said, I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie. The movie takes place about three years since the end of the show, and there is a nice refresher on where all 4 of the women were at, in case you've forgotten. Of course, there were more than a few humorous references to sex, but the movie was much more about friendship and love than anything else, which I really enjoyed. I felt like it was more grown up than the show (ironic, I know coming from someone my age) and I feel like Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte had settled a bit into their lives. I don't know if you will enjoy this movie if you aren't at least a little bit familiar with the characters in the series, but if you have watched the show and been turned off in the past, you may enjoy the movie a bit more.

I've never seen the show, so I didn't bother with the movie either.

I've seen most if not all of the show over time and I do need to get around to seeing the movie. I admit though that I had no interest in seeing it at the theater, but am looking forward to getting it from Netflix.

After watching the whole series and seeing repeats on tv I was just meh about the idea of a movie. But I went to it anyways and it got me really excited about the series again! I think I went out and got like 3-4 of the seasons afterwards!

I had never seen one episode until this last year when I Netflix'd the entire series starting with episode 1. Now I'm dying to see the movie but my inlaws are in town - not exactly family bonding material - ha!

I've really enjoyed reading your blog over the last months, and just wanted to let you know I left ya a shout out on my blog: www.ismellbooks.blogspot.com

I never watched the show when it was on tv, but I did watch a few of the edited versions on syndication, but I never joined the craze like some. My best friend lived and breathed the show and she has forced me to watch the first few seasons on dvd. But honestly, I could take it or leave it. OK, maybe forced is too harsh, but I just didn't love it like she wanted me to.
