Have you all heard about this? Apparently, Princess Mia of The Princess Diaries fame is writing a historical romance. The release date, which coincides with the last Princess Diaries book, is January 6, 2009, and all proceeds from the book will be donated to Greenpeace. The book is entitled Ransom My Heart and is a historical romance. Here is a synopsis:
Hugo Fitzstephen is a tall, handsome knight who has just returned from the Crusades with a life-altering secret. Finnula Crais, “the fair Finn,” is an adventurous beauty with more than a few secrets of her own. Finnula needs money for her sister’s dowry, and fast. Luckily she happens upon a knight in need of rescue in a local tavern – a nobleman who evidently has returned home to England from the Crusades with saddlebags of jewels, money, and lots of it.
Finnula reasons what could be simpler than to kidnap him and hold him for ransom? Well, for starters, Finnula could make the terrible mistake of falling in love with her hostage . . . and falling into bed with him. Now they’re stuck with one another, and their lives-and the lives of everyone they know-will never be the same.
So, what do you all think? Is it a cute marketing idea, or a roll-your-eyes ploy? I think the fact that all the proceeds from the book go to Greenpeace helps legitimate it. Does it sound like an interesting book? Will you be reading it?

I agree, I think the proceeds going to Greenpeace does help legitimize it. I'll probably wait and see some reviews of it before I would think about reading it. What about you-are you going to read it?
well, i am not sure.. it does sound nice..but i would defintely wait to read other reviews and see if it is worth it..:) oops.. just realized that Dar said the same thing!:)
That's clever!
I'm a huge Cabot fan and think it's pretty interesting to have one of her most popular characters "writing" her own novel, but I wonder if it's going to be sort of silly and mocking -- or a legitimate romance novel. I'll read it either way -- and don't particularly care one way or another -- but it'll be interesting to see how she carries it off!
