Italy - My Favorite Hotel...

I've stayed in some nice hotels, and I've stayed in some horrible hotels. But I have to say, the hotel we stayed at in Florence is the nicest hotel I will ever stay at.

It's called Residenza del Moro and it is in a converted palazzo that dates back to at least the 16th century. There are only 11 rooms, and each is individually decorated and unique. 9 of the rooms are suites, 2 are regular doubles.

I'm glad to say that while I booked a regular double, we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge because for 4 of the 5 nights we stayed there, we were the only guests! (You'd think this would be creepy, but it actually was really nice). The receptionist, who talked to us at length and gave us a tour of the rest of the rooms, said that they're usually not booked up in August because it's hot in Italy and there are a lot of tourists, and it's not really a tourist hotel (I can vouch for all of those things). Though it was incredibly nice, the hotel wasn't pretentious at all, which both my husband and I loved.

And now, of course, what you guys have been waiting for: pictures!

This is the living area of our suite:

And this is the bedroom from the door as you walk in:

The ceiling:

And the rest of the room (impressive, isn't it?):

The rest of the hotel was equally impressive. Here's the balcony where we ate breakfast every morning:

And I'll end this post with my husband and I on the balcony having drinks!

If you want to know more about this hotel, their website is here. They have some beautiful pictures of their individual rooms, as well as some history on the palazzo. It's unbelievably expensive, but it's one of those few hotels that is actually worth it - if you're in Florence, I highly recommend it!

That looks absolutely amazing! The hubby and I are looking at a European trip in the next year or two, and I'll have to put this on our list of potential stops. Now, when do we get to see some wedding photos?

That hotel is gorgeous! It looks very expensive, but I'm adding it to my list of places to stay when we have more money.

It looks wonderful!! There is a really nice hotel with similar characteristics in Madrid. It is the Foxa M-30. http://www.foxa.com/HHome.asp?Id=3

I stayed there with a couple of frinds last Easter. We really enjoyed the experience.

Best wishes!! ;)
