Today's topic: Recommendations. Do you use LT's recommendations feature? Have you found any good books by using it? Do you use the anti-recommendations, or the "special sauce" recommendations? How do you find out about books you want to read?
I don't actually use LT's recommendation feature. I use a lot of different sources to find out about books I want to read. Book blogs for one - I'm a devoted reader of numerous book blogs and they often introduce me to a lot of books! Second, I'm on the e-mail lists of Amazon.com and B&N, which announce new releases. Also, every once in awhile I peruse Amazon.com's top selling books in various categories that interest me to see what has been released that I might enjoy. And finally, I go to Border's and walk around their displays. I've found that Borders' in store setup is the most conducive to finding new books. Although right now, the LAST thing I really need is to find more books to add to my TBR pile!
And just as a reminder, my giveaway for The Drowning Tree by Carol Goodman ends tonight at 11:59 PM! If you haven't entered yet, go here.

I love getting suggestions, but I have to admit there's nothing better than walking through your favorite book shop (for me it's the nearby Barnes and Noble) and just finding something on the shelf that calls to you.
I get a lot of my recommendations from blogs too, but can't resist wandering through a book store!

Ayuh! I know exactly what you mean. :-D
Walking through bookstores is such a fun way to discover new books. All of your favorite ways are better than the Recommendations functionality.
I totally agree - I really don't need to be finding new recommendations for books to read. What I need to do is settle down and read some of the pile I've already got! Of course, that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop browsing.
